2013 Tour Down Under
Unley businesses and cycling enthusiasts have welcomed news it will host another stage start in the Tour Down Under.
Unley has been awarded the start of Stage 3 in next year's Tour Down Under on January 24. This s the 12th time that Unley has hosted part of the tour
The Fifteenth Santos Tour Down Under hosts for 'Stage Starts' are Unley joins Prospect, Mt Barker, Modbury and McLaren Vale.
Large Crowds are expected to enjoy the 139km leg from King William Rd in Unley through to Stirling in the Adelaide Hills.
This 2012 tour attracted 15,000 people.

South Australia leads the country by banning lightweight 'checkout' bags. These bags will be phased out as of January 1st 2009 and will be totally banned by May 4 2009. This initiative will contribute 400 million less bags circulating in South Australia.
Those traders who choose to ignore the plastic bag ban could be subject to fines of up to $20,000.
So now is the time to get into the habit of bringing your own reusable bags when you go shopping.
The bags that will be legal to use include, Sturdy bags, Barrier Bags, Compostable Bags, Paper Bags and Heavier Retail (eg: Department Store) Bags.
